Protecting Standards.
Representing Inspectors.
Safeguarding Consumers.
The time to act is now…
The building inspection industry is currently facing significant regulatory reform proposals that could dramatically reshape how inspections are conducted, reported and relied upon in Victoria.
While consumer protection is essential, poorly designed legislation may:
These changes could impact:
The VAHI Symbol
The VAHI symbol is more than a mark. It represents integrity, professionalism and a shared commitment to doing the right thing for consumers and the industry. When an inspector displays this symbol, it signifies they are part of a community that values ethical conduct, transparency and high standards in pre-purchase building and timber pest inspections.
VAHI welcomes inspectors from a range of professional backgrounds who are committed to these principles. As part of membership, inspectors agree to uphold principles of integrity, consumer-focused practice and responsible professional conduct.
For the public, the symbol offers a simple way to identify inspectors who stand behind these values. For members, it represents a united body of professionals working together to strengthen standards and credibility across Victoria’s inspection industry.
Power in Unity
The inspection profession can often feel isolating, but VAHI brings inspectors together through shared purpose, collective advocacy and professional community.
When we do not stand united, decisions that shape our industry will be made without our voice at the table.

Our Advocacy
VAHI has prepared a detailed submission to Victorian Parliament outlining:
The unintended consequences of the proposed legislation
The economic and professional impacts on inspectors
Risks to consumer protection and market transparency
Alternative recommendations to strengthen standards without damaging industry sustainability
We are committed to constructive engagement, but strong, coordinated industry participation is essential.
How to Get Involved
Print a copy of the government submission and arrange a brief meeting with your local Member of Parliament. Use the talking points here to guide the discussion and highlight the potential impacts of the proposed policy. Please note, the submission is for discussion purposes only and should not be left with the Member of Parliament.
